On 23-26 September, the ITS ON ROADS II International Conference was held at the Crowne Plaza St. Petersburg Airport. The conference was devoted to the role and place of ITS within the Russian toll-road network and current trends of national development.

RUTOLL was actively involved in discussion of the industry’s most sensitive issues, exploring the topic of ITS fundraising potential and import substitution. It was concluded that there is an apparent need for new independent and efficient integratable solutions. The key to toll-road cost efficiency is the development of a flexible and actionable smart system based on the current social and territorial properties of specific sites.

In some cases, it would be appropriate to implement innovative technology, e.g. online billing, “multi-lane free flow," secured RFID tags with UCODE DNA progressive technology. Other circumstances call for the traditional solution of cashier toll booths. Individual, tailored solutions must be based on research and feedback.

The conference provided an opportunity for the company to reassess its product – Russia’s first-ever road-tolling offer – from a fresh perspective. We are confident of its uniqueness and competitive potential and shall continue to grow our business.
